This Pear and Walnut Salad is the perfect way to keep something fresh + green on the table at dinner time and help break up all of the rich comfort foods of the season.
Prep Work for a Pear and Walnut Salad
Gather items like a whisk for the dressing, potato peeler to create the shaved parmesan and your best knife for cutting fruit.
I really love to keep the shape of the pear for this recipe. Cutting vertically helps add another gorgeous layer of presentation to this dish.

Ingredients Needed For A Pear and Walnut Salad
2 cups arugula
2 cups spinach
1-2 pears (sliced thin)
shaved parmesan (to taste)
chopped walnuts (to taste)
For the Dressing
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp fig preserves
1 tbsp minced shallots
1 tsp dried oregano
salt + pepper to taste
How to Make a Pear and Walnut Salad
In a small bowl whisk together your dressing ingredients thoroughly and set aside.
In a large bowl or serving plate add your spinach, arugula, pears, parmesan and walnuts.
Top with dressing and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt (optional).
Serve immediately.
Notes and Modifications
This salad has been a family favorite for years and the perfect base to any seasonal fruit switch up. Figs, apples or pomegranates would make a great alternative this fall.
There will be leftover dressing which just means more salads (yay!) or top on any dish you desire. Store the remaining dressing in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
